Salah Uncertainty Pushes Liverpool Toward €70m Rodrygo Transfer Option

‎Liverpool are assessing the possibility of a January transfer move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as uncertainty deepens around Mohamed Salah’s future. The Brazilian attacker has surfaced as a potential replacement following the Egyptian’s recent statements after the 3-3 draw with Leeds.

‎Salah has been linked with a January departure to the Saudi Pro League and to Turkish side Galatasaray. The forward signed a two-year contract earlier this year and played a significant role in Liverpool’s Premier League title win under Arne Slot, contributing 29 goals and 18 assists during the campaign.
‎Salah’s output this season stands at four league goals and two assists across 13 appearances. The forward indicated frustration after being named on the bench for a third consecutive match, saying he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” following the draw at Leeds. He questioned his situation at the club and highlighted concerns about blame being placed on him.
‎Salah hinted that the upcoming match against Brighton could be his final Liverpool appearance before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations. The forward is set to join Egypt for the tournament and could miss several matches should his national team reach the final stages. Reports state that Saudi club Al-Hilal are currently leading the race for his signature, a move that would reunite him with Darwin Nunez.
‎Spanish outlet Defensa Central reports that Liverpool view Rodrygo as the leading candidate to fill the potential vacancy on the right flank. The Brazilian was previously linked with a move away from Real Madrid, with Manchester City showing interest earlier in the year. Negotiations between City and Madrid failed to progress, resulting in Rodrygo remaining at the Bernabéu.
‎Rodrygo has faced limited playing time under Xabi Alonso, making only three league starts and registering 342 minutes this season. Real Madrid have reportedly set a €70 million valuation for the 24-year-old as clubs monitor his situation.
‎Rodrygo joins a growing list of wide players linked to Liverpool ahead of the January window. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo has been identified as another possible target, with a £65 million release clause available for activation. Manchester City and Tottenham are also reported to be tracking the forward.
‎PSG’s Bradley Barcola is another name on the Reds’ shortlist as contract talks in France continue without resolution. Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise is also under consideration, though Bayern remain keen to keep the player in Germany.
‎Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds extended a challenging run of form for the defending champions. The club has secured four wins in its last 15 matches across all competitions, and the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal has widened to 10 points.
