Mohamed Salah Faces Potential MLS or Saudi Pro League Move Amid Liverpool Future Questions
Mohamed Salah may have the option to continue his career in the United States or the Saudi Pro League when the summer transfer window opens. The Liverpool star has long been linked with a potential move to the Middle East, but according to Fabrizio Romano, clubs in Major League Soccer are also monitoring his situation.

Salah is currently under contract at Anfield until 2027, having recently agreed to a significant extension. Nevertheless, his future has been questioned following a public outburst directed at the club. The 33-year-old forward expressed his displeasure at being benched by manager Arne Slot, claiming Liverpool had let him down during a challenging start to their title defense.
Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah has been reinstated to Liverpool's lineup, but he has struggled to find the net in the Premier League, failing to score since November 1. This is a sharp contrast to his prolific scoring record during over eight years in English football.
Interest in Salah from both Saudi Arabia and the United States is reportedly growing. Big-spending Saudi clubs have long been linked with the Egyptian international, and Liverpool could opt to sell while they can still demand a substantial transfer fee. Romano highlighted that Al-Ittihad, among other teams, could enter discussions in the summer window, particularly after the departure of stars like Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
Romano also noted that MLS clubs may consider approaching Salah. With stars like Lionel Messi and Heung-min Son already in North America, the league is eager to attract high-profile players. "It could be an intriguing summer for the Egyptian winger," Romano said, adding that no formal offers have yet been made, but the situation could change by summer.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Salah is likely to leave Anfield. Speaking to GOAL, he suggested that while Salah will finish the current season with Liverpool, the summer could see him move, particularly if younger talents such as Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak, and Florian Wirtz establish themselves. Collymore added that Salah may feel overshadowed by the attention given to these newcomers.
With Cristiano Ronaldo also rumored to be leaving Al-Nassr for MLS, Salah could be a prime candidate to fill the gap in the Saudi Pro League. The Egyptian forward’s next move is expected to be one of the most watched transfers this summer.
