“Lower League” Move Not Ruled Out
Lewandowski has revealed he is open to considering a move outside elite competition, including lower leagues, as he approaches the end of his current contract.
He said:
"There could be an option in a lower league. I'm almost 38, but I feel good physically, so I'm considering it. I have to take into account the possibility that it's time to play and enjoy life. Perhaps that option will arise, and I'm not ruling it out,"
The comments came during Barcelona’s La Liga celebrations following their victory over Real Madrid.
Contract Decision Still Pending
With his deal nearing its final stages, Lewandowski confirmed he is still weighing his options.
"What will I do in the fall? I don't know. I just found out I have 51 days left on my contract, so I still have time. I'll listen to a few more offers and then decide,"
Reports indicate Barcelona may be willing to offer an extension, but on reduced terms.
Pride in Trophy-Laden Career
The striker reflected on his long career across Europe, including spells at Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
He noted his consistent success:
"I've won a total of 14 championships, I've won them with every club, that impresses me a lot and I'm proud of it,"
Future Focus Still on Playing
Lewandowski also addressed remarks from teammate Wojciech Szczęsny, who had jokingly suggested retirement.
He dismissed the idea while reaffirming his desire to continue playing:
"You know how Wojtek is: today he says one thing, tomorrow he'll say another. It's not like I wake up in the morning with aches and pains. I appreciate where I am and I enjoy it. We'll see what happens, but what's clear is that I'm going to keep playing."
