'Talk Is Cheap': Yamal Fires Back in Heated Barcelona vs Real Madrid Rivalry
Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in El Clasico confirmed their La Liga triumph, but the spotlight quickly shifted from the pitch to Lamine Yamal’s post-match social media activity.
Celebrating Ferran Torres’ goal from the stands, Yamal posted a video on Instagram and captioned it with “talk is cheap”, followed by multiple laughing emojis. The message was widely interpreted as a response to earlier comments in the rivalry.

Barcelona midfielder Gavi also engaged with the post, resharing it and adding a “talking” emoji, highlighting the collective mood within the squad during the celebrations.
The exchange between Yamal and Jude Bellingham dates back to October’s first Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Real Madrid won 2-1. After scoring in that match, Bellingham posted: "Talk is cheap. Hala Madrid always."
That message came after Yamal had made controversial pre-match remarks criticizing Real Madrid’s matches. He had stated: "Real Madrid do things; they rob [games]", comments that drew significant attention and reaction from the Madrid squad.
Bellingham’s response on social media intensified the rivalry between both young stars, adding a personal edge to an already heated fixture.
On the pitch, Barcelona delivered when it mattered most, defeating Real Madrid 2-0 to mathematically clinch the league title. Goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres ensured a decisive victory over their biggest rivals.
The result secured consecutive La Liga titles for Barcelona under Hansi Flick, adding to their earlier Supercopa success. For Real Madrid, the defeat marked the end of a season without trophies.
Despite his involvement in celebrations, Yamal remains sidelined due to a hamstring tear in his left thigh sustained last month. His rehabilitation program is ongoing, with the focus on ensuring full recovery ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
