‎Mohamed Salah Transfer Update: Al-Ahly Dismiss Liverpool Star Move Amid Struggles Under Arne Slot

‎Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has faced renewed scrutiny following the team’s poor run of form, yet reports linking the Egyptian star with a move to Al-Ahly have been firmly denied.
‎The forward, who signed a new Liverpool contract earlier in the summer, has endured a challenging start to the campaign, scoring only three league goals. Liverpool’s inconsistent performances under head coach Arne Slot have heightened questions about the club’s direction after six defeats in their last seven matches.

‎Salah’s absence from the squad during Liverpool’s 3-0 EFL Cup loss to Crystal Palace intensified speculation over his position within the team. Slot’s decision to field a youthful lineup against the Eagles backfired, leading to the Reds’ exit from the domestic cup competition and leaving them seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.
‎The Egyptian international did find the net in the 3-2 defeat to Brentford, ending a month-long goal drought, yet his overall impact has waned during Slot’s second season at Anfield. Despite growing rumors, Egyptian powerhouse Al-Ahly have publicly distanced themselves from any move for Salah.
‎Al-Ahly Deny Salah Transfer Reports
‎Amid speculation linking Salah with a return to Egyptian football, Al-Ahly director of football and former winger Sayed Abdel Hafeez clarified that no negotiations have taken place. Speaking ahead of the club’s presidential election, he stressed that Salah remains committed to his professional career in Europe.
‎“Mohamed Salah is a very big star and has done things that are difficult for any player in the Arab world to do,” Hafeez stated. “Linking Salah to Al-Ahly is a media effort. He renewed his contract with Liverpool months ago, and no official at Al-Ahly has discussed this matter.”
‎Hafeez added that the club is focused on its own priorities and extended best wishes to Salah in his ongoing career with Liverpool.
‎Liverpool’s Form Under Scrutiny
‎Former Chelsea striker and Sky Sports analyst Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Liverpool’s current struggles stem from a lack of balance in the lineup and uncertainty over key players’ roles. He noted that Salah’s diminished influence on the pitch is contributing to the Reds’ attacking inconsistencies.
‎Hasselbaink highlighted that new signings are still adapting to the system and competing for prominence. “Salah is not the main man anymore,” he explained, pointing to increased competition and tactical adjustments under Slot. “It is normal for new players to want to show their worth, but the overall setup doesn’t feel right at the moment.”
‎Salah Expected to Return Against Aston Villa
‎Liverpool are preparing for a demanding series of fixtures against Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City. Salah, along with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch, was rested for the midweek defeat to Crystal Palace. The group is anticipated to return to the starting lineup for the clash against Villa as Liverpool seek to regain momentum in the Premier League.
