Liverpool Identify Bradley Barcola as Potential Mohamed Salah Successor Amid Arsenal Interest
Liverpool are evaluating Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah as uncertainty grows around the Egyptian forward’s future at Anfield. Salah publicly criticised head coach Arne Slot following the 3-3 draw at Leeds, where he started on the bench for a third consecutive league match.

Salah signed a two-year contract extension earlier in the year after contributing 29 goals and 18 assists to Liverpool’s title-winning campaign. The forward has registered four goals and two assists across his first 13 league matches of the current season.
Salah expressed frustration after the draw at Leeds, claiming he had been “thrown under the bus” and indicating he intends to bid farewell to the fanbase when Liverpool face Brighton next weekend. He said he could not understand his recent exclusion from the starting XI and suggested someone wanted him to take the blame.
Liverpool are beginning preparations for a potential change in attack, with Bradley Barcola emerging as a prominent target. The 23-year-old has started nine of PSG’s 15 league games, scoring five times as the club negotiates new contracts for several key players.
Barcola has yet to accept PSG’s contract offer, which includes a significant salary increase. The France international remains behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doué in the attacking order when all players are available, leaving Liverpool alert to the developing situation.
Arsenal have also entered the frame for Barcola as they explore offensive options for the January window. The club added Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze during the summer but may strengthen again due to uncertainty surrounding Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future.
Arsenal’s recent 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa added pressure to their title hopes, with Matty Cash and Emiliano Buendía scoring for the hosts and Leandro Trossard equalising for the visitors. The loss means Mikel Arteta’s side have managed two wins from their last five league fixtures.
Salah’s possible final appearances for Liverpool could arrive this week as the team prepares to meet Inter in the Champions League before hosting Brighton on Saturday. The forward will soon travel to join Egypt ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on 21 December in Morocco and concludes on 18 January.
Egypt target an eighth AFCON crown, and Salah may miss up to six matches for Liverpool depending on how far the national team progresses. Transfer links continue to surround the forward, including interest from Galatasaray and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
