‎Liverpool Fear Losing Star as Dominik Szoboszlai Dreams of Real Madrid Surface

‎Liverpool have reportedly received a warning that their influential midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai still carries a long-standing ambition to eventually represent Real Madrid during his career. Although his current contract keeps him at the club until 2028 and the reigning Premier League champions are working to secure him with an improved deal, remarks from Hungary’s national team boss Marco Rossi could create unease among supporters at Anfield.

‎Liverpool face uncertainty as Dominik Szoboszlai’s long-term dream of playing for Real Madrid emerges amid contract talks and rising tensions with Arda Guler.
‎According to reports from MARCA, Real Madrid officials have taken notice after Rossi revealed that his captain has always envisioned wearing the famous white shirt of the Spanish giants. Rossi explained that because of their close bond dating back to Szoboszlai’s childhood football days, he is fully aware that Madrid has long represented the midfielder’s ultimate football dream. However, Rossi also admitted that whether such a move ever happens depends both on the player himself and his current club.
‎Rossi stressed that remaining at Liverpool is still a very realistic possibility. He highlighted how highly valued Szoboszlai is within the squad and emphasized the global stature of Liverpool as one of football’s biggest institutions. The manager suggested contract renewal remains very possible given how important the player is to the team.
‎If Szoboszlai were to move to Madrid soon, he might have to resolve tensions with Arda Guler. The pair clashed during international matches in March 2025 when Turkey defeated Hungary 3-0. The rivalry intensified when Guler mocked Szoboszlai during the match. The Liverpool midfielder later responded online with a comment referencing Guler’s limited playing minutes for Madrid during the 2024–25 season.
‎The situation spilled onto social media again days later when Szoboszlai posted wedding photos with partner Borka Buzsik. Turkish supporters flooded the comment section with GIFs and images of Guler, escalating the online feud further.
‎Despite transfer talk, Liverpool are under no obligation to sell, particularly while new contract negotiations remain active. Szoboszlai, now 25, has been one of the few standout performers during what has otherwise been a difficult season. When asked about contract discussions, he admitted there has been no progress so far and suggested decisions about his future are largely out of his hands. He added that he enjoys the city, the club environment, playing with his teammates, and the atmosphere inside Anfield, but ultimately said time will decide what happens next.
‎The midfielder recently missed Liverpool’s 1-0 victory against Sunderland in the Premier League due to a one-match suspension. The ban came after a red card he received late in a 2-1 home defeat against Manchester City. He returned to the starting lineup for the FA Cup fourth-round clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring in a 3-0 victory alongside Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah.
