Salah Told Only Saudi, MLS or Italy Remain as Liverpool Chapter Nears End

‎The outlook for Mohamed Salah’s next career step is becoming increasingly defined, with suggestions that his choices may be limited once he departs Liverpool. Former midfielder Didi Hamann has indicated that a return to another Premier League side is unlikely, despite Salah’s legacy in the competition.

‎Hamann’s assessment centers on a perceived decline in the forward’s recent performances. He pointed out that Salah’s productivity from open play has dropped significantly over the last year and a half, which could deter clubs within England from making a move.
‎In his view, interest from Premier League teams is improbable. Instead, he believes the Egyptian forward is more likely to consider opportunities in Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer, or potentially a return to Italy, where experience is often highly valued.
‎Beyond England, Hamann also downplayed the possibility of Salah joining clubs in Spain or Germany. He cited financial limitations in the Bundesliga and suggested that Spain’s top sides would not be inclined to pursue him due to both economic and tactical considerations.
‎Italy stands out as the most realistic European option. Having previously played there, Salah could fit into a league that traditionally embraces seasoned players, making a Serie A switch a credible outcome.
‎While speculation continues, Salah remains focused on concluding his Liverpool spell positively. However, his recent comments about feeling the need to continually prove himself drew criticism from Hamann, who stressed that ongoing performance matters more than past accomplishments.
‎Salah’s departure will mark the end of a highly successful era at Anfield. Over nine seasons, he has accumulated 257 goals in 435 appearances, contributing significantly to major honours, including a Champions League triumph and two league titles.
‎This campaign, however, has been less impressive both collectively and individually. With 12 goals in 39 matches, combined with Liverpool’s struggles, there is growing belief that his peak years in elite European football may be behind him.
‎As the summer transfer window approaches, attention now shifts to where Salah will continue his career, with only a handful of destinations seemingly in contention.
